Thirty-six Tuskegee Airmen signed the Kaydet’s fuselage door.
In 2011, Air Force Captain Matt Quay flew the PT-13D Stearman Kaydet from Lincoln, California, to Washington, D.C. Along the way, he stopped at the Air Force Academy in Colorado, air shows in Minnesota, and Moton Field in Alabama. Surviving Tuskegee Airmen viewed the plane during its travels and signed its fuselage door.
