Challenging Racism with Science
Health
1947
Physical anthropology and demographic analyses reveals the toll of racism on African Americans and the broader society as well. In this pamphlet, published by the NAACP, Cobb argues for the integration of medical education and hospital care.
Cobb challenged racial difference theories with scientific evidence and battled social inequality with his prolific writings and active engagement outside the lab. He published extensively in scientific journals but also in popular publications such as the Pittsburgh Courier and Ebony. As an activist, he worked with the NAACP in the struggle for civil rights and served as its president from 1976 to 1983.
