C. DeLores Tucker (1927–2005) led a campaign to have Sojourner Truth recognized in the Capitol along with white women suffragists. Tucker’s organization, the National Congress of Black Women (NCBW), donated a bust of Sojourner Truth to Congress. Sculpted by Artis Lane, the bust was unveiled in the Capitol’s Emancipation Hall on April 28, 2009. In this 2004 interview, Tucker speaks about “The Battle for Sojourner.”
