Students Fight for Integration
Activism
1955
Student groups helped young people learn about the legal fight for desegregation.
Students were an important part of the fight to end segregation. Parents were legal defendants, and the Legal Defense Fund provided strategy and lawyers, but groups like the NAACP Youth Council educated students and helped them organize. This flier invited young people to come to Washington, D.C. to hear from major political figures like Thurgood Marshall, and even the U.S. President, Dwight D. Eisenhower.
